Founded in 1960, Sonoma State University is part of the California State University system, and is located in Rohnert Park. The university lies just 20 miles northwest of Sonoma and remains one of the smallest of the 23 CSU campuses in California, but could very well be the most scenic. The university offers 92 Bachelor's degrees, 19 Master's degrees, and one Doctoral degree. Until 1978, it was known as Sonoma State College.

Sonoma State Seawolves Athletics

The nickname of the Sonoma State University athletic teams is the Seawolves. The team colors are navy blue, Columbia blue, and white. The nickname is derived from a novel by Jack London, who lived not far from the present-day campus. Sonoma State competes in 13 sports, and its baseball program has sent more than 2-dozen players to the major leagues.
